Avoid Product Complaints
Product complaints are a drain on time and resources for any business. Even with good products and services, product complaints can occur.
In this case, a Pump Wholesaler, Irrigation Warehouse Group has found a way to substantially reduce product complaints for the submersible bore pumps that he supplies. The group offers the option to supply the submersible bore pumps with a Maric valve already fitted. The correctly selected Maric valve restricts flow to the manufacturer’s specifications. Irrigation Warehouse Group fits the Maric valve with a short length of stainless steel pipe between the valve and the pump outlet. The outlet of the pumps will typically be 1¼”, 1½” or 2” female BSP, and the appropriate size Maric valve is inexpensive.
A major cause of customer complaints is the pump damage that results from insufficient pressure against the pump, and the subsequent excess flow rate that results. This scenario will occur when the bore has a high draw down. The submersible pump will be correctly selected for the back pressure that occurs when the bore level has drawn down. However, at start up there will be minimal head against pump. The pump will run off the right-hand side of curve, and this will result in pump damage.
By fitting the Maric valves onto bore pumps, the Irrigation Warehouse Group has reduced the failure rate due to up-thrust and cavitation damage by 100%. Furthermore, the Maric valves appear to be unaffected by the water quality in the bores and after 10-years the valves function as new.
The Irrigation Warehouse Group found the failure rate of those pumps supplied direct to the end user was reduced to zero by fitting Maric valves. Meanwhile, of the several hundred pumps supplied to customers that choose not to include a Maric valve, the failure rate due to up-thrust damage and cavitation is above 15%.
The Pump Wholesaler continues to promote Maric Flow Control Valves to reduce the number of product complaints.
